Updates for the Month of March

Hello and welcome back! It’s the end of March, means that for this post I’m doing my monthly update and what to look forward to next month.

I hope that you and your families are healthy and safe. I can say at this point that my family, my boyfriend, his family, and me are all happy and safe at this time. We are following the guidelines that the government has imposed on us all. As far as my work life goes, I was working for an essential business, i.e. a liquor store up until yesterday, because I will be starting another job on Monday, working for a company that I had worked for before, so I have that going for me.

As far as Moonspinner3 Books is concerned, I’m still working on my projects and working on content in the meantime. As for my goal of re-working and re-publishing works that I had published in the past, that goal has been met. Yes, you can now get the updated version of Crimson Protection, the third installment of the Sheriff Crimson Series on Amazon.

So with the completion and the republication of Crimson Projection, the following have been re-worked and re-published with new covers:

Booksv2-page-001

I am so happy with myself for getting goal completed, and on that high note, I have to tell you of my next upcoming work that I am currently working on to be published. This work is titled, The Eighth Dwarf. The Eighth Dwarf, is a take on the telling on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, so yes, it is a fan-fiction.

Here is the cover The Eighth Dwarf:

Eighth Dwarf Cover v3-page-001

The Eighth Dwarf, is a fantasy short fiction piece, that will be published for Amazon in the near future, as soon as the re-write, the second round of edits, and so forth as is my process. Originally, The Eighth Dwarf, was written when I was in my senior of high school for a creative writing class, and so it was one of those pieces that I adore and cherish, and I hope that you will enjoy it as well, when it becomes available.

So what comes after The Eighth Dwarf? Well, I’m still working on figuring out what my next work in progress will be, since I can go one of two ways, I can either work on the fourth installment of The Sheriff Crimson Series, which is titled Crimson Soldier. Yes, there is a cover for that as well:

crimson soldier cover-page-001

So either I can work on Crimson Soldier, or I can work on one of the other projects that I have sitting on a shelf currently. But whatever the project is, I will certainly post the update of what I’m going to be working on as soon as The Eighth Dwarf is completed. See, I am getting better on working on one project at a time versus having lots of projects going on.

The other thing that I am currently working, that is for my business, I getting all of my pieces that I have written in the past in one central location so that I can find them and work on them as time goes, and as long as we are all home-bound, that too gives me loads of time to work on my writing and focusing on my goal.

Well, until next month, I hope that you and your families stay safe and healthy. I want to thank you, for all of your continued support. Until next time, I hope that you have a happy writing day! Keep writing and keep creating!

Updates to Moonspinner3 Books

Hello and welcome to Moonspinner3 Books! Yes, I have made some changes to the site. One of the reasons why I made the current change to the site, is that I wanted it look new and fresh. This look makes it very clear that this is site is about the business of writing.

While the site has changed, the content that will appear on this site, will be the same good writing focused blogs that have been always appeared on this site.

On that note, let’s get down to business!

Publishing Anyone?

Last time, that I was on here I talked about the recent publication of Crimson Bounty, and that is not the only piece that has been published. The recent version of Crimson Shot has also been published, and is available on Amazon.

So in total, my goal of getting all of what I have published before, being updated! I have one more to go and that is Crimson Protection, which is my current project that I will hopefully be starting later to day.

But in case you are wondering her all of the works that I have currently published and they are all available on Amazon:

What Else is Going on?

Along with working on updating the works that I have previously published, I have also been working on getting my other writing projects organized. That way I have a clear focus on what my next projects that I want to focus my time and attention on.

Most of the work, will be completed after Crimson Protection is completed, hopefully that will be completed later this month, so that I can work on the other projects that I want to get off the ground and running.

This means that there is more short fiction pieces to be written, edited and published. This also means some of my larger pieces to the worked on as well. But as of right now, I’m working on one project at a time so that I don’t get scattered on trying to work on several projects at once.

Anything Else?

Yes, there is one more thing. The other day, after I finished the edits for Crimson Shot, I also started the revamp work on the newest cover for Crimson Protection and here it is:

One More Thing…

I have more thing to add, in the beginning and I have always continued to be blessed by the amount of support that I have received on this site and on the social media platforms that I have posted up information in regards to Moonspinner3 Books.

I would like to say, Thank you once again for all of the continued support, for it is greatly appreciated.

On that note, I hope that you will continue to support this site as there is much more to come.

Thank you, and until next time I hope that you have a great writing day!

What Have I been Up to Lately

Hello again! I have been quite busy behind the scenes, writing of course. But I have also been updating a few things as well. Before we get to all of that, I wanted to inform you all that there are now editions, or rather updates made to the ebooks My Grandmother is Missing and Poems in a Milk Bottle.

In both of these ebooks, they first have new covers, which are down below:

My Grandmother Cover-page-001          Poems in a milk bottle cover-page-001

There are many reasons why I changed the book covers for these two works, but first and for most the original covers were not doing it for me. So they needed to be changed.

The other changes that made to these works, was by putting them under their imprints, such as My Grandmother is Missing has been published under both Moonspinner3 Books and Black Knife Mysteries and Thrillers Press. As for Poems in a Milk Bottle, I only published it under Moonspinner3 Books.

Besides all these make up changes, I have updated the story to My Grandmother is Missing, so that it more considered a short story piece than that of a flash fiction piece. I wanted to make this change, because first and fore most I felt the story was not really complete enough, and I wanted to add in some details, so that I was a stronger piece.

As for Poems in a Milk Bottle,  I made more formatting changes to the collection. However, in view of these changes, I have also made them look more professional, such as adding both front and back matter to the book.

So what is next for me…well, I am currently working on The Raven Prophecy and I will be making similar changes to the Sheriff Crimson stories that I have already released.

I hope that you will stay tune to those changes, and I will let you all know when they are available. But as of right now both, My Grandmother is Missing and Poems in a Milk Bottle are both available for release.

I hope that you all have a happy writing day!

Using Pen Names and things to consider

There is a subject, or rather a decision that every writer goes through. Yes, even I am dealing with this decision as of late. The subject is that on using or not using a pen name. Pen names have long been used in the history of our industry. Back during the time of Little Women, female writers were discouraged from writing, for it was long held that it was a male industry. Well, women can write just as men. No, I am not attacking men but rather stating a fact that could also be considered an opinion.

If women wanted to write and be published they had to either take on a male name or would keep their writing to themselves and upon their death it would be later published. Even J.K. Rowling was told this with the Harry Potter series when it came time for her to leap into the world of publication.

Aside from J.K. Rowling, there was a long held belief that when it comes to children writers, that little boys would rather read books written by a man then by female. While this may be fact, and gender bias. On the other hand, it should be looked at who is teaching children, but I will save that rant for another day, for I will stick to the subject on pen names.

Besides gender bias and the history of women writers on their treatment, there is another side to using a pen name and that is based on genre writing. There is a long held belief that if you are going to write in other genres, then you need to use a pen name. There are some famous cases of this and there are some that have broken this as well.

One example of this from the traditionally published, is Stephen King. Yes, the thriller mastermind behind some of New York Times best sellers. He has written in other genres while still using his name. While Nora Roberts, who for the most part writes romance, has indulged into the world of mystery using the pen name, J.D. Robb as well as Jill March and Sarah Hardesty. Even the name Nora Roberts is also a pen name. Now on the self-publishing side, an author that I follow on YouTube, Mandi Lynn is also a pen name. A pen name that she has used in different genres that she has published.

While using a different or a same pen name for when it comes to writing and publishing genres may be up to the author to make. But I have been told that it is an industry wide practice to using pen names when writing or publishing in different genres. Granted, I made different imprints under Moonspinner3 Books, for this purpose, but should I also have to use a different name of this as well.

Granted, on the J.D. Robb titles, it does have the subheading or rather by line of Nora Roberts as J.D. Robb or something to that effect. I have thought about this matter quite a bit and while it maybe something to consider, but on the other hand from a business standpoint, does it make sense?

Hear me out on this, using a different pen name, whether you label that you are using a certain pen name or not can make branding hard. Let alone on Goodreads, you would have to have a separate author page for every pen name that you use.  This can be not only time consuming but probably also ridiculous in the long term as well.

Here is another reason, why I am talking about branding under this post as well, is that if you follow or do not follow but Mandi Lynn just re-published two of her books so that for one they got a face lift on the cover designs, but for another her author name on the covers looks the same. She states in one of her videos that is in part due to her brand that she is working on building. I can see her point on this as well.

Coming up with a pen name or even thinking about using a pen name for that matter is a decision that is not made lightly. Granted, I have given this much thought and for one I do not want to have ten or even twenty different pen names, for that could be quite cumber sum to say the least. But I want to use one name, so that my work can be judge based on one persona and not a thousand. This could also make for an author to have multiple identity disorder at which point, how does one sleep at night. I’m not making light of those that are inflicted by this, but we as authors due have to look at this and take it very seriously.

There is one more side to using a pen name, and that is to make a line in the sand between the personal and the business. I can agree with this as well, for one does need to have at times the separation between the two, and if it is the same then everything that you do in the future in your personal life is reflected on your business good or bad. Do you want it to have an impact in your business? On your writing? How your work is judged? We this all the time when it comes to known celebrities.

This is something that does need to have some consideration and all that I can say is that the decision is up to you. Granted when you are self-publishing or traditionally published depending on how big you are then you can make the decisions that are right for you and your business.

One my side, I am considering it just because I don’t want to have too many pen names, or having to making unnecessary social media pages to stay in contact with my readers. I also don’t want to have several signatures also when it comes to signing books. Yes, I may be sounding lazy but really who has time to do all of the lists above. Let’s here it: No one. I know that I do not. I’m currently working on deciding on which one that I want to use.

I hope that this post has given you some thoughts on the use of pen names. I hope that you have a great writing day! Happy creating until next time!

Next Year is almost upon Us

dragon and coffee
Amy Brown

It seems like if you look at a number of authors on Youtube, they are either talking about their last-minute writing goals for this year, they are looking back at the year that has been, or they are looking forward to all the things that they want to accomplish in the next year, I am no exception to this.

This year has been a number of things for me in terms of writing as well as personal. But I would rather not go through the long list of those things, because some of them are still hard to understand what happened. But in terms of writing, it has been a year of that for me. Granted, I did not publish as much as I had hoped to do. However, on the other hand, I did work on foundations in some of my stories, this included The Raven Prophecy, The Zodiac Tower, and Ravages of Time.

Therefore, I am going to take the time to reflect that this year, in terms of my writing was a year of growth. I focused on building images upon the page with words. I also learned a great deal about how to take my writing up a notch, which I have in turn paid it forward by sharing it will all of you. Sharing with all you has been a goal of mine from the start of this site, and that always makes me happy that I am able to share with all of you something new about the craft of writing.

While I have been sharing goodness about the world of writing, there are others out there that tried to strike a nerve within the community by trying to bring down their fellow authors down. This has left a dark mark on your community as a whole, and I hope that we in the new year can see that this trend or behavior make its way down a really dark hole, just let’s watch out for Alice as she makes her way down that same hole. But let’s also leave this darkness in the past shall we and make 2019 a year of rebuilding our community by supporting each other and trying to ruin others by copyrighting words, titles and other just items that are used to make our writings and our projects matter.

In other words, let us all get along and get back our job of writing without the added stress that comes from our community. We all have a common gift and we want to share our gift with readers. That should be our main focus and not coming after others within our treasured community.

Speaking of community, the community of Faerie Rose Press has grown, for this site now has over 125 followers. Let me put this on the record, that I appreciate all of you that continue to tune in for new content that I post, and this goes without saying it does not matter if this is the first time that you are visiting my site or the hundredth, it is appreciated. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, thank you and I hope that you will come back next year for new content.

On that note, let me get into what I want to accomplish next year. There are a number of things I would like to make a reality next year. The first of which is telling more stories, whether they be short or novel size. I really want to get more written, edited and published. I also want to share more stories about things will all of you on here as well, such as the stories behind some of my writings. This has been a real struggle for me since sometimes writing can be personal, but on the other hand, how can I inspire others, if I do not share. This is a real matter that has come to pass for me from time to time. But never fear, I will give it a try as I accept the challenge. This is what I have in mind so far in the back of my mind, as items that I want to accomplish next year.

That goes without saying that the first project that I have in mind to get to a second draft at the very least is Ravages of Time. Ravages of Time, like so many of my projects, as somewhat taken a back seat to others, but I’m going to try and work on one project at a time. This means for me starting one project and seeing it through until it is done or rather completed in its published form. Ravages of Time is the first of these beauties on the list, so look forward to many posts as I talk about my progress on Ravages of Time.

Lastly, my other goal for next year is to read a lot more than I did this past year. Yes, I did not do a good job of following up on my reading list and I have plenty to read. Therefore, I plan to read a bit more than this year and so look forward to seeing posts on what I am reading and I hope to stay on task on that as well. But we shall see.

However, will all of this in mind, I am hoping that next year is a better year all the way around. I will close this post by saying, I hope that all of you are enjoying this holiday season and I wish all of you a Happy New Year. But just to let you know, this year has not come to a close and either has Faerie Rose Press, for there is still much to post throughout the rest of this year.

I hope all of you have a happy writing day as you create worlds with your words. Have a great day!blog header 4-page-001

Our Services

I have added a new page on our website that lists the services that Faerie Rose Press provides to other writers and future writers as well. The reason for starting this list is to help writers since there is so much information out there on writing.

Faerie Rose Press is currently working on our mission to help other writers with their writing and their start with the Writer’s Journey.

I’m Beyond Words Right Now

Good evening and happy Saturday! So tonight, before I came on here I was on Facebook and I have some awesome news to share. Since publishing the page for Faerie Rose Press, and updating it regularly, I have received 25 likes and I now have 23 followers! This is just so awesome to have right now! I can’t even express it into words. Although, I’m so happy right now.

Also other updates on my Saturday evening, I continue to work on Ravages of Time, and I have started working on my Facebook author page and it is now out there for every one to see. The page is under Tiffany M Dew.

So when you are a writer and you want to get yourself out there on social media, you will need to create at some point an author page. This is for one that you are separate from your person page or your business page, and for two so that your readers can find you. So I have done that tonight, and it like everything else will be a work in progress. But I am happy with the progress that I am making on my business and with the direction that I’m currently headed in.

But as of right now, this website is still going to be the base for everything, so that you don’t have to click or have to follow two different websites maybe in the future that will change, but as of right now things are staying on this page. I will be creating a new section on the website, which will be a gallary of the covers that I have designed. This will include the two for Ravages of Time, which I posted on here last night. It will also feature a couple of the designs that I did for the Raven Prophecy. But that is something that I want to show, is the covers that I have designed myself and see what others think.

So as far, I’m made way through Facebook, twitter, Youtube and this website. I’m also working my way through Instagram and once I figure that one out I will notify you with those details. Right now, I’m just thinking that when I started this adventure that I would never have this sort of followship that I have on Facebook or on this site for this matter. As always, even though I don’t say it enough, thank you for finding me and reading this every time that I post something, it really means alot. I also have a new update on this as well, I have someone from Austria that has found this site and checking it out as well. So far I have readers in the US, Asia, and Europe. This is just a little overwhelming but in a good way and I enjoy writing these posts and keeping you to date on what I have going on.

Thank you for I am beyond happy. If you like what you have read like, comment, and share. Thank you, again and have a good night.

New Year, New Month, New Beginnings

So on Monday I became another year old, and yes I became the big 3-0. Today is my mother’s 55th birthday, and tomorrow we start a new month. That means during this time of change, I am thinking a lot about new beginnings. In the past year, I started my business, Faerie Rose Press, and learning a lot about how to market my business as well as my product my book, The Raven Prophecy. Even though, it is a work in progress, the book is coming together.

On my birthday, I spent the day starting a new draft of the novel. Part of the morning, I worked on designing the first cover of my book. Then I formatted my document, and then I started the work of writing. While I have been working on this draft, one thing came to find, and that was that this is the year that I will put out my novel. I have the support of my family and friends, and that means the world to me right now.

But also I want to pass on what I have learned and what I know to all of you, my loyal readers. So during this time of new beginnings, I promise that I will work on creating new content either daily or on a weekly basis. I also promise that I will keep you updated on how my novel is coming. As well as, I will continue working on discussing the business of writing, the fantasy genre, and all the things are happening with Faerie Rose Press.

In my last post, I talked about how my life has been interfering with my writing but I have also been taking care of my alpaca herd and all that they are dealing with at this time. I can report that the alpacas are getting better, and even though, my mother and I are taking it day by day with the herd. But we feel that we are turning a corner in their health, which is an improvement from a week ago. So that is a huge positive for me right now. Granted, I’m not saying that because my herd is doing better that I’m not going to be monitoring them so that I work on my novel. What I am saying is that I’m working on the balance of taking care of the herd and working on my novel.

I’m feeling quite positive about things, and I hope to be getting back on track with things. So with that in mind here are my goals for the month of September. I’m hoping that my birthday present is coming soon, and that means that I will be working on creating a podcast channel. This is the latest move that I will be taking on, and yes, I am learning about how you create a podcast. I will also be doing more videos on Youtube, marketing on Twitter and Facebook. Everything is a work in progress as I have said from the beginning, but it’s all good. As long as I am learning and taking what I am learning and improving, that means that is where I can pass on knowledge to others that want to get into the writing business.

So I will leave you tonight with one thought: new beginnings can be great things while they are also scary. But this year I have goals and I want to keep on those goals and I want to do so much more in the coming year.

If you like what you have read, like, comment down below and I will let you know what is going on tomorrow night. Before I go I will let you see the current cover design for the Raven Prophecy.

Today was a Good day!

Today, was a good day here at Faerie Rose Press. I got my first unoffical client that I got to help with on his writing. So if you haven’t guessed, I took somewhat I wrote yesturday to heart and took a giant leap forward when I said that I would help someone with their writing project.

This comes under the heading of helping others in the writing community, which can sort of be looked as doing community service. As much as we as writers need to focus on our own writing, we also need to help our fellow authors with their writing projects. I feel that taking that step was a huge accomplishment for myself, for a long time that I was terribly shy. But as I continue to come out of my shell, and I feel that I can accomplish more.

One way that I can say for certain that I came out of the shy shell was getting into the alpaca and llama industry, and when I started doing the shows and showing what I have learned from raising them I have come out of that shell, and in some ways if I wasn’t out of my shell then I wouldn’t have mustered up the courage to help my fellow writer, which I found on Facebook.

The other way that this was a good day, was when I looked at my stats for this site, I saw that I got two views from people in India, for me that was awesome. It was just as awesome as seeing the fews from those that are across the US and Australia. So all in all, today was a good day for me at Faerie Rose Press.

Also on the marketing front, I have created an account on Goodreads, and I will be soon starting a Youtube channel. Yes, things are happening, but it’s awesome, for I feel that I’m making strives in what I want to accomplish my business, and one of those items was to help someone with their writing project.

I hope you all had a great Friday too!
