What Have I been Up to Lately

Hello again! I have been quite busy behind the scenes, writing of course. But I have also been updating a few things as well. Before we get to all of that, I wanted to inform you all that there are now editions, or rather updates made to the ebooks My Grandmother is Missing and Poems in a Milk Bottle.

In both of these ebooks, they first have new covers, which are down below:

My Grandmother Cover-page-001          Poems in a milk bottle cover-page-001

There are many reasons why I changed the book covers for these two works, but first and for most the original covers were not doing it for me. So they needed to be changed.

The other changes that made to these works, was by putting them under their imprints, such as My Grandmother is Missing has been published under both Moonspinner3 Books and Black Knife Mysteries and Thrillers Press. As for Poems in a Milk Bottle, I only published it under Moonspinner3 Books.

Besides all these make up changes, I have updated the story to My Grandmother is Missing, so that it more considered a short story piece than that of a flash fiction piece. I wanted to make this change, because first and fore most I felt the story was not really complete enough, and I wanted to add in some details, so that I was a stronger piece.

As for Poems in a Milk Bottle,  I made more formatting changes to the collection. However, in view of these changes, I have also made them look more professional, such as adding both front and back matter to the book.

So what is next for me…well, I am currently working on The Raven Prophecy and I will be making similar changes to the Sheriff Crimson stories that I have already released.

I hope that you will stay tune to those changes, and I will let you all know when they are available. But as of right now both, My Grandmother is Missing and Poems in a Milk Bottle are both available for release.

I hope that you all have a happy writing day!

Happy New Year!!! Welcome to 2019!!!

Yes, there are many that have probably have started their first blogs of 2019 with this sentiment, and I am no exception. Let’s praise something that 2018 is over (finally). Now we can start to get to the things that we want to do in 2019, which I have mentioned in several posts that I have many things that I want to accomplish in this new year.

First of all, let me discuss one of my biggest goals is to work on one project at a time. Yes, if you were with me last year, you saw that I was working on either too many projects at a time or I was jumping from project to project without finishing one. Shame on me. This year, however, one of my biggest goals is to work on one project at a time and see it from start to finish. The first of these projects is Ravages of Time.

In case you are not aware, Ravages of Time, is one of the first novel projects that I took on in my first attempt at NaNoWriMo, back a few years ago. While it is a completed first draft, I want to get it to the phase to where I can get it published. I have designed three covers for this book, two that are really similar to one another and the third is like a complete overhaul on the cover design. Here are all three covers displayed together:Ravages of Time Covers-page-001

So that is what I am working on as far as bigger projects go. As for a small one, yes, I’m taking on a small one at the same time. Granted, this goes against the one project at a time thing, but I feel that this project needs to be done for it is somewhat bugging me. Remember, we writers tend to be perfectionists. Especially when we learn something new and want to go back and fix things that we might not like with something that we may have completed in the past.

This one project, is redesigning the cover for Poems in a Milk Bottle, my poetry collection. Yes, the poetry collection is already out there, on Amazon, in publication. However, there are a couple of things that have bothered with me with the publication of the collection. For starters there is the cover. Granted, the original cover was put together and designed when I did not know much about cover design, and most recently I redesigned the cover (I will display them down below). The second thing is when I look at the design for the poetry collection a whole, i feel that it was a bit rushed in places, so I want to go back and fix those things, so that I can republish it this year. So that is a small project that I am taking on. Here are the covers as promised, before I go into describing why I am taking on this project:

Poems in a milk bottle covers-page-001

One of the main reasons, why I am going to republish my poetry collection, is because in one year I have learned a lot about putting a book together and I want to make things better. I also learned that I can re-do things, such as unpublish and republish works. I want to expand on what I know and at least try to make things better than they were before. I know that this is a huge undertaking in itself, but I feel that I can do it. So when the updated version of Poems in a Milk Bottle is available, I will let you all know. I also feel that the difference in the cover design is a step up from what it was before.

Another thing that I said that I was going to do in this coming year, is read more than what I did last year. Yeah, I did not read much last year, which I know I should be a shamed of myself. However, instead of reading I was writing, but on the other hand I know that in order to improve upon my craft I need to read more. Therefore, the first book that I am undertaking to read in 2019, is Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn.

Well this is the start of what I have going on in 2019. I hope that your 2019 is getting started where you want it to be. I hope that you have a Happy New Year! I also hope that you have a great writing day! Happy Writing, Happy Creating until next time!

Update at Faerie Rose Press

Every once a while, I like to give an update on how things are going at Faerie Rose Press, so here is the newest update.

Earlier, this month I gave an update on the Raven Prophecy, which is still going well. Currently the story is moving along and I’m still adding elements to the latest first draft of the book. As for the Ravages of Time, I have put that one down for a while as I work on the Raven Prophecy. My current goal right now for the Raven Prophecy is get the first 100 or so pages completed.

I have just add a list of the services that Faerie Rose Press is starting to provide. This is a promise if you will to our commintment to helping writers with their writing as they find their writer’s journey. Also I have added as part of the commintment, three new sections this month: Writer’s First Source, Book Reviews, and Movie Reviews. Right now I have five or so sections under Writer’s First Source.

I have been working on Faerie Rose Press’s Facebook page, which is more the most part where I would like it to be. Granted, I’m adding information here and there, if you would like go check it out and don’t forget to like. My Facebook Author page is still a work in progress, which is where I’m posting some things but not as much as on the other page. Twitter is going strong. I still need to work on Youtube and Instagram.

But for the most part things are moving along here at Faerie Rose Press. Also this month I published a flash fiction piece on Amazon’s Kindle, called “My Grandmother is Missing,” and a poetry collection called, “Poems in a Milk Bottle,” where it is also available on Amazon’s Kindle.

NaNoWriMo was this month, and granted I didn’t really work on my piece of it as much as I should have, but it is also a slow project, so that I why I put a main focus on the Raven Prophecy. So in the next couple of days NaNoWriMo is coming to a close and that means for those that participated they can either start editing or they can take a month off before they edit. But here at Faerie Rose Press will be doing neither as we will be writing and hopefully helping those with editing or proofreading their work.

November was a busy month, and December will be just as busy with the holidays coming up and all the gatherings. I hope that you have enjoyed this update on Faerie Rose Press.
